Breaking News: Transition Announcement from MiCHWA’s Executive Director

March 28, 2024

Dear MiCHWA CHWs and Valued Stakeholders,

It is with mixed emotions that I write to inform you that as of April 26, 2024, I will be stepping down from my role as the Executive Director of Michigan Community Health Worker Alliance (MiCHWA).

Serving in this capacity for the past two years has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished together.

Together, we have achieved remarkable milestones. We secured Medicaid reimbursement for  Community Health Workers (CHWs), launched the MI Medicaid CHW Registry and transformed MiCHWA into an organization that stands at the forefront in its commitment to advancing  CHWs and promoting health equity. The dedication and hard work of each CHW member, Ally, Employer and stakeholder has been instrumental in our success.

As we navigate this transition, I am pleased to announce that the Board of Directors has selected Kareem Baig, MiCHWA’s Grants and Program Manager, to serve as the interim Executive Director.

Kareem has consistently demonstrated exemplary leadership skills, earned the respect of his colleagues. He possesses a deep understanding of our organization and shares our passion for advancing our mission. I have every confidence in Kareem’s ability to lead MiCHWA during this critical time.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to each member of the Board of Directors for the opportunities provided to me during my time as MiCHWA’s Executive Director. It has been an honor to lead and contribute to the growth of this incredible organization.

I look forward to witnessing the continued success and impact of our collective efforts under Kareem’s leadership.

Warmest Regards,

Tressa Liba

Michigan Community Health Worker Alliance (MiCHWA)
