The Michigan Community Health Worker Alliance (MiCHWA) is excited to announce the appointment of Kareem J. Baig, LSSBB as our new Executive Director!
Kareem brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and vision to this role, building on his successful tenure as Interim Executive Director.
Throughout his time with MiCHWA, Kareem has demonstrated a deep commitment to advancing the Community Health Worker (CHW) profession and addressing the critical role CHWs play in improving health equity across Michigan. Under his interim leadership, MiCHWA has celebrated significant milestones and as Executive Director, Kareem will continue to lead MiCHWA in its mission to promote and sustain the CHW workforce through education, advocacy and collaboration. His leadership comes at a pivotal moment as MiCHWA strengthens its focus on expanding CHW certification and training opportunities, advocating for policy changes and sustainable funding mechanisms to support CHW roles, streamlining the CHW credentialing process, and continuing to foster partnerships that enhance CHW integration into Michigan’s health care and public health systems.
We are confident that Kareem’s passion for building resilient communities and his collaborative approach will drive MiCHWA’s mission forward, ensuring CHWs remain at the forefront of creating healthier and more equitable communities.
